Who We Are
LetsHomesteadIt.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a research and buying-guide site about home food preservation and homestead kitchen tools. Our website address is https://letshomesteadit.com. You can reach us at hello@letshomesteadit.com.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are read, how people arrive, which affiliate links are clicked and roughly where visitors are located. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) and receives your IP address to estimate location; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses in our reports. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Affiliate Links (Amazon and ThirstyAffiliates)
Links to retailers go through short redirect links on our site (/recommends/), managed by the ThirstyAffiliates plugin. When you click one, our server records the link, the time and your IP address to count clicks. When you reach Amazon, Amazon sets its own cookies so a purchase can be credited to us. Amazon’s handling of your data is covered by Amazon’s Privacy Notice.
Hosting and Server Logs
Our site is hosted by Hostinger and uses LiteSpeed caching and a content delivery network. Like most web servers, they keep standard access logs (IP address, browser user agent, page requested, date and time) for security and troubleshooting.
If you email us, we keep your message and email address to reply and to handle your request.
Comments
Comments are closed on this site. If we open them in the future, we will collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Cookies
- Functionality: WordPress session and login cookies (only for site administrators)
- Analytics: Google Analytics cookies to measure site usage
- Affiliate tracking: Amazon cookies, set by Amazon after you click an Amazon link
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
Embedded Content
Articles may include embedded content such as videos or images from other websites. Embedded content behaves as if you visited that website directly and may collect data about you.
How Long We Retain Your Data
- Google Analytics data: 14 months, then deleted by Google.
- Affiliate click records: kept while the site runs, used only for click counts.
- Server logs: kept for the period set by our hosting provider.
- Emails: as long as needed to answer and follow up.
Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. Data is processed by the service providers named above (Google, Amazon, Hostinger) to run the site, measure traffic and attribute affiliate purchases.
